Your trip. Your information.
What Awayfold saves, what you share, and what you can remove.
Awayfold is operated by Hardly Standard. Contact us about your information or this notice.
What we use
Discover remembers the home country you choose on this device and, when signed in, in your account. We do not detect it from your location. We use your email to sign you in and send requested account messages. If you enable trip reminders, we use your saved plan to send them. Legacy accounts may also have a username and password hash.
We store the trips, photos, reviews, case records, and files you choose to save to your account so you can use them across devices. This can include travel dates, booking references, expenses, and evidence. Photo dates and recorded locations can help organize your album. Files you upload may contain personal or payment details; remove anything you do not want stored.
On your device
Awayfold uses a session cookie and browser storage for sign-in, offline copies, preferences, and pending changes. Sign-in lasts up to 90 days. Guest trips stay on that device unless you choose to copy them to an account. Incomplete form drafts and changes waiting for a connection have not yet saved to your account.
Downloaded account copies remain readable after a session expires. Sign out to remove those copies; finish pending saves first. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted.
Imports and service providers
- Railway hosts the app, account data, and backups. Cloudflare provides domain and network services. Hosting providers process connection information such as IP addresses for delivery and security.
- Resend delivers sign-in messages and enabled reminders, and receives forwarded bookings. Forwarding to an enabled Awayfold mailbox instructs us to prepare a private draft for your review.
- OpenAI reads images when you choose a booking or receipt import, and bounded text and supported attachments from admitted mailbox messages. Requests disable stored responses, but provider safety and operational retention can still apply. Ordinary album photo import and grouping do not use AI.
These providers may process information outside your country. Their linked notices explain their own processing and retention. Awayfold does not add advertising trackers or sell trip information.
Sharing is your choice
Trip links disclose the plan fields shown in the sharing preview to anyone holding the link. They exclude private booking references, account identity, photos, photo locations, and case evidence. Links can expire or be revoked. PDFs, calendars, and copies a recipient already saved cannot be recalled.
Scrapbooks are a separate sharing choice. Only the selected photos, captions, day memories, and title shown in your preview are published. Image metadata, booking details, and account information are excluded. Anyone with a scrapbook link can view and save that selection until the link expires or is revoked.
Photo invitations belong to one trip and one verified companion email. The companion uploads optimized copies for your review. Accepted photos join your private album; publishing them requires a separate choice. Pending contributions count toward your image allowance. Declining a photo removes its pending image copy.
How long things stay
Trip text, history, and private reviews stay until you delete them or your account. Album copies share a 100 MiB image allowance with saved trip captures, pending companion photos, and case files. Album photos stay until you remove them or their trip. When space is needed, old booking captures from trips ended at least 30 days ago may be removed, unless an incident hold protects them. Case evidence is protected. If no eligible space remains, new images wait until you free space. Keep your full-resolution originals; album copies are optimized.
Unreviewed mailbox drafts expire after 30 days. Minimal message identifiers prevent duplicate processing. Retired forwarding addresses remain reserved so they cannot be reassigned. Raw emails and attachments are not saved into trip records; Resend retains its own copies under its plan. Removing an Awayfold draft does not immediately erase the provider copy.
Deleting your account removes its active server records. Backup cleanup targets 14 days and runs after a successful backup; a failed backup can extend retention. Provider logs and copies already downloaded elsewhere follow separate retention.
Your controls
You can edit or delete records, turn off reminders and mailbox intake, revoke shared links, and delete your account in Account. Export options are available within trips and cases. For an access, correction, or deletion request you cannot complete in the app, contact us; we may need to verify account ownership.
